There is no surname coupling more synonymous with triumph than any pair in the annals of baseball than "Ruth" and "Gehrig" as the famed duo tamed American League and World Series opponents with unprecedented regularity during their legendary careers in the Bronx. While a falling-out brought an abrupt finish to what had been a strong friendship just before Ruth's departure, the two remain inseparable likenesses in American culture – first, as fence-clearing barnstorming comrades and, in the end, in the unforgettable embrace as Gehrig neared his demise.
Offered here is an 8 x 10-inch photo of Hall of Famers Lou Gehrig and Babe Ruth. The duo won three World Series titles together during the 1920s while playing for the New York Yankees and are pictured here with their gloves while leaning on baseball bats. Gehrig is pictured smiling while wearing a "Larrupin' Lou's" uniform, while Ruth is pictured wearing a "Bustin' Babes" uniform worn during a barnstorming game. Ruth's printed signature with the inscription "Yours Truly" appears next to his image in black. Gehrig's printed signature with the inscription "Yours Truly" appears next to his image. Gehrig signed his name below his printed signature in blue ink. The signature is bold and clear. The photo displays elements of toning and wear on the edges and corners. The item comes encapsulated and authenticated by PSA/DNA (T09613), who gave the autograph the grade of MINT 9.
