The baseball world lost a legend on June 2nd, 1941, when Lou Gehrig passed away due to complications from ALS a disease that would bear his name. The Hall of Fame first baseman bravely fought the terminal disease for two years, but its inexorable process caught up with him in the end. After his death, the Yankees distributed these pins to memorialize their fallen hero. The pin measures approximately two inches in diameter, with a portrait of Gehrig in the center. The green border features the text “NEVER FORGOTTEN” and “LOU GEHRIG” in white lettering. Two pink ribbons extend from the bottom of the pin.
