It would become a harbinger of things to come, Michael Jordan being featured on the cover of Sports Illustrated magazine. This offered Sports Illustrated magazine is dated July 23, 1984 and shows Jordan in his navy Team USA uniform in mid-air underneath the basket as the headline reads “UP, UP FOR L.A.”. This photo was taken during an exhibition game for the 1984 US Men’s Olympic basketball team that squared off against NBA All Stars in preparations for the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. Jordan and Team USA would go undefeated, winning the gold medal. Jordan signed his name in bold blue marker under his image as the caption below his picture reads “Olympic Team Star Michael Jordan”. A great edition of Sports Illustrated that was Jordan’s first solo as the cover and this comes with a LOA from Beckett Authentication (A28445) for Jordan’s signature.
