It was a leap of the ages. Michael Jordan, in front of his hometown Chicago crowd, needed a perfect dunk to out-dual Dominique Wilkins in the 1988 Slam Dunk Contest. Drawing inspiration from “Dr. J” Julius Erving, Jordan began his now famous dunk from the opposite end of the court. Dribbling full speed, Jordan ascended to the rim from the foul line and put an exclamation on what is considered the greatest Slam Dunk Contest of all-time. Jordan was the highlight of the 1988 All-Star Weekend as his legendary dual with Wilkins in the Slam Dunk Contest was one of the best spectacles the NBA has ever produced. The city of Chicago was the host for the 1988 All-Star Game and Jordan outdueled Wilkins to win the Slam Dunk Contest.

Offered here is an 8 x 10-inch full color photograph of Jordan in midair about to slam home his victory. This iconic shot was taken from the baseline with the giant Chicago Stadium scoreboard in the background showing “WILKINS” with 145 points. Jordan would earn a perfect 50-point score on this dunk, much to the delight of the hometown faithful and edge out Wilkins to win the 1988 NBA Slam-Dunk Championship. This full color photograph has been signed in bold black marker by Jordan across the crown and below the rim, running partially across his image. This comes with a STICKER ONLY from PSA/DNA (B01394).
