Offered in this lot is a warmup jacket and pants combination worn by United States stalwart Michelle Akers. A World Cup champion in 1991 and 1999, Akers scored the first goal in USWNT history in 1985. In 1996, Akers led the United States to the gold medal in the Atlanta Summer Olympics in the inaugural women’s soccer tournament. Akers retired from USWNT duty in 2000 with over 150 caps and 107 goals.

The jacket in this lot is a quarter-zip made of blue mesh, with a USWNT logo and a Nike swoosh sewn to the chest. “USA” is sewn on the back of the jacket in blue and red tackle twill. Akers has signed the “U” in “USA” in silver marker, inscribing “#10 USA” in addition to her signature. A Nike size “L” tag is sewn on the back inside collar. The pants in this lot are also blue mesh Nike garments. A white Nike swoosh is sewn on the left leg and a Nike size “L” tag is sewn in the back inside collar. This warmup suit comes with a LOA from Akers. A portion of the proceeds shall benefit the Michelle Akers Horse Rescue & Outreach Inc.
