Every baseball legend has a breakout season, which catapults the player from simply a great baseball player into a legend. For the late Mickey Mantle, that season occurred in 1956, when the famed New York Yankees center fielder broke out from famed New York Yankee Joe DiMaggio’s shadow and became a Yankee legend in his own right. After steadily improving throughout his first five seasons, Mantle exploded during the 1956 season, batting .356 with 52 home runs and 130 RBI to capture the coveted Triple Crown, becoming the only switch-hitter in MLB history to win the title. Mantle would earn an All-Star selection en route to being named the AL MVP while playing for a Yankees team that would win a seven-game World Series against the Brooklyn Dodgers. It’s no wonder Mantle referred to 1956 as his favorite summer, a summer so great that Mantle wrote the book “My Favorite Summer 1956” in 1992.

Presented here is a gorgeous 11 x 14-inch photo of Hall of Famer Mickey Mantle resting on a white matte with black trim inside a 17 ¼ x 20 ¼ -inch frame. The photo features a young and smiling Mantle sitting cross-legged on a dugout bench in his Yankees uniform. Mantle boldy signed his name and inscribed “1956” across the photo with a silver metallic paint pen. The signature and inscription are bold, and the frame and photo are in fantastic condition and come with a COA from Steiner Sports for the signature.
