Another very intimate piece of apparel from Philadelphia Phillies slugger Mike Schmidt’s personal collection, this size-44, emerald green and white, snap-down Ohio University letterman’s jacket was worn by Schmidt during his time as a member of the Bobcats baseball team from 1967-1971. Schmidt’s last name and “203 Columbus Rd.” address are written in blue ballpoint pen on the left interior panel of the jacket and opposite side of the white “O” patch stitched onto the green wool front. Jacket has white leather sleeves and leather trim on the two front pockets with green and white elastic piping at the end of the sleeves and along the waistline and collar. A manufacturers label reading: “The Jacket for Champions tailored by Butwin The Champion of Jackets” is on the inside left front tail with a “Genuine Gluv Elf Dry Cleanable Leather” strip tag and dry-cleaning tags attached with safety pins to the inside collar and right front tail. This 45+ year-old jacket is showing some signs of aging but retains its original colors and comes with a notarized letter of authenticity from Mike Schmidt.
