Presented is a Mikhail Kalashnikov signed and inscribed cut in a framed shadowbox display celebrating the creator of the AK-47 assault rifle, with a plastic replica of the weapon. Kalashnikov has signed his name in black pen in the lower center of the 3½ x 5½-inch white cut and inscribed “12.12.90” below his signature. The signed cut is mounted at the top center of the display, above a 1¼ x 5-inch black metal plaque engraved with the legend “Mikhail Kalashnikov Developed AK-47 Assault Rifle” in gold. At the upper left of the display is an 8 x 10-inch black & white photograph of Kalashnikov as a young man in uniform at his drafting table. At the upper right is an 8 x 10-inch black & white photo of an older Kalashnikov in a dark suit and tie holding his famous creation in his hands. At the bottom of the display is mounted a 9 x 28-inch black and brown plastic replica of the weapon. The signed cut, two photos, plaque and plastic replica are mounted in a black matte with red and white accents and displayed in a 3 x 2 ½ x 37½ black plastic with glass shadowbox. Kalashnikov (1919-2013) was a Russian Lieutenant-General, inventor, military engineer, writer, and small arms designer. He is most famous for developing the AK-47 assault rifle and its improvements for the U.S.S.R. military. Kalashnikov was, according to himself, a self-taught tinkerer who combined innate mechanical skills with the study of weaponry to design arms that achieved battlefield ubiquity. Even though Kalashnikov felt sorrow at the weapons' uncontrolled distribution, he took pride in his inventions and in their reputation for reliability, emphasizing that his rifle is "a weapon of defense" and "not a weapon for offense". Please note that the replica weapon in this display is plastic and non-operational. This item comes with a STICKER ONLY from PSA/DNA (AE14444). Please note that due to the size and weight of this item, shipping costs will be higher.
