A star of the dead-ball era, Mordecai “Three-Finger” Brown is one of baseball’s most fascinating oddities. After losing his index finger in a childhood accident, Brown learned how to use his disability to throw one of the most devastating curveballs in Major League history. Brown parlayed his unique skill into an exceptional 14-year career, finishing with a record of 239 wins and 130 losses. Brown’s career ERA was 2.06, the third lowest of any pitcher inducted into the Hall of Fame.
Brown signed this government postcard in black pen, adding the inscription “A Cub” underneath his signature. This postcard is addressed to “Miss Peggy Danahy,” a resident of Brockton, Massachusetts. This item has been encapsulated by PSA/DNA (83943170).
