Easily one of the most popular sports figure of the 20th century, Muhammad Ali would become a pioneer in the sport of boxing during the 1960s and 1970s. Ali was often known for his brash nature, and his natural attraction towards the spotlight. Ali would self promote his fights by doing all the talking for the press and media, although fans would remember him most for being able to back up his trash talk in the boxing ring. Using a style that utilized baiting, footwork, and effective counter striking, Ali’s fight were guaranteed fireworks and a true spectacle for any one fortunate enough to have watched him fight.

He would cement his legacy both in and out of the squared circle. Born Cassius Clay, Ali would change his name at the height of the Civil Rights Movement and refuse to partake in the military draft for the Vietnam War becoming a national icon, a symbol of resistance, and a champion of the people in the process.

These featured boxing gloves were the same one’s used in training by the great Ali himself. These pair of gloves are red Tru.Play 10oz gloves. The gloves are string tied, and also feature breathable air holes on the palms. These gloves have seen their fair share of use as they are noticeably worn. The leather is very much wrinkled on both gloves, and the inside seam between the thumb and hand is torn open on the right glove, while the left features a tear directly stemming from the palm. The right glove still features the original string used to tighten, however that too is very much torn. This treasure comes direct from the collection of Lou “Booty” Beltrami, a very close friend of Muhammad Ali. Beltrami attended almost every one of Ali’s fights from 1972-on, and fight fans may remember the boxer saying hello to “Booty” on national TV when his friend could not make it in person. These bottles come with a Letter of Authenticity from the family of Lou “Booty” Beltrami.
