“Nobody will believe this” defending Heavyweight Champion Muhammad Ali screamed at a floored Sonny Liston during the first round of their highly anticipated rematch on May 25, 1965, at the Central Maine Youth Center in Lewiston, Maine, after he knocked the contender for the title down in the first round. Ali, who had dethroned the 8-1 favored Liston on February 25, 1964, at Convention Hall in Miami Beach, Florida, to become the youngest boxer to ever dethrone a Heavyweight Champ, knocked Liston down at 1:44 in the first round of their rematch. Liston got up at 1:56 and the fight was called 2:12, with Ali earning a first-round knockout that would be embroiled in controversy as many dubbed the knockout “The Phantom Punch” and allegations of fight fixing immediately arose afterward and continue to this day.

Presented here is a 16 x 20-inch color photo of Ali standing over a knocked-down Sonny Liston while referee and former heavyweight champion Jersey Joe Walcott attempting to move Ali back to his corner after their historic rematch. A triumphant Ali signed his name in blue marker across his image, and the signature is bold and the photo is in great condition. The signed iconic photo comes with a COA from Steiner Sports and a sticker from Online Authentics.com (OA-7802866).
