Presented here is a ticket from one of the most famous boxing matches of all-time, the Muhammad Ali and Sonny Liston rematch in 1965. Ali and Liston had fought previously, when the challenger was still known as “Cassius Clay”. Liston and Ali fought a contentious and controversial six round battle in Miami in 1964, which ended when the Liston corner threw in the towel before the seventh round. Their second fight, held in Lewiston, Maine, on May 25th, 1965, saw one of the most incredible results in boxing history. Less than two minutes into the first round, Ali sent a fast right thudding into the head of Liston, knocking down the former champion. The boxing world was in disbelief, as Ali’s punch moved so fast many in the arena did not see it land. This victory cemented Ali’s status as the greatest boxer in the world.
The offered ticket is a full ticket of the orange variation, and it has been encapsulated and graded an EX-MT 6 by PSA/DNA. Ali has signed the ticket in blue marker. This item has been authenticated by PSA/DNA (20284156).
