Although Muhammad Ali won a gold medal at the 1960 Rome Summer Olympics, he did not become a household name until his first fight with Sonny Liston in 1964. By the time the second fight rolled around in 1965, Ali was a transcendent celebrity. Ali came out swinging in the second fight, knocking Liston out just barely over two minutes into their heavyweight fight. The ensuing photograph, of Ali standing over his fallen opponent, has become legendary. It is indicative of the essence of Ali, a trash-talking showman who backed up his bravado with immeasurable skill and resilience. Ali signed this black and white, 7 ½ x 7 inch photograph in silver marker. This photograph is numbered 2,898 of 7,500. This item comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (AC03317).
