After Muhammad Ali knocked out Sonny Liston in the seventh round of their first encounter, Ali stopped Liston in the first round of their second bout. Within the first minute of the fight Liston threw one of his stinging left jabs only to be countered with a lightning fast right over the top from Ali. Liston goes down, attempts to stand and falls again. Liston gets counted out, and the fight is called by former Heavyweight Champion Jersey Joe Walcott. This iconic moment and photo served as proof of Ali’s dominance and influence inside and outside of the ring. Muhammad Ali signed this 28 x 39 inch framed canvas piece in silver marker. The Wednesday, May 26, 1965 San Francisco Chronicle front page served as inspiration for this artwork. This item comes with a LOA from Steve Grad of Beckett Authentication (A86045).
