To celebrate the NBA’s Golden Anniversary season in 1996, the league’s 50 Greatest Players were unveiled, as selected by a panel of former players, coaches, current and former GMs, executives and members of the media. Presented here is an incredibly unique lot – salesman sample rings for all 50 players, including individual presentation boxes. The players represented are as follows: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Nate Archibald, Paul Arizin, Charles Barkley, Rick Barry, Elgin Baylor, Dave Bing, Larry Bird, Wilt Chamberlain, Bob Cousy, Dave Cowens, Billy Cunningham, Dave DeBusschere, Clyde Drexler, Julius Erving, Patrick Ewing, Walt Frazier, George Gervin, Hal Greer, John Havlicek, Elvin Hayes, Magic Johnson, Sam Jones, Michael Jordan, Jerry Lucas, Karl Malone, Moses Malone, Pete Maravich, Kevin McHale, George Mikan, Earl Monroe, Hakeem Olajuwon, Shaquille O’Neal, Robert Parish, Bob Pettit, Scottie Pippen, Willis Reed, Oscar Robertson, David Robinson, Bill Russell, Dolph Schayes, Bill Sharman, John Stockton, Isiah Thomas, Nate Thurmond, Wes Unseld, Bill Walton, Jerry West, Lenny Wilkens and James Worthy. Each Balfour-manufactured ring displays an image of a basketball – with the number 50 atop it – on the center of the face. “NBA GREATEST PLAYERS” reads around it in relief lettering. One side displays the NBA league logo and the years “1946” and “1996”. An NBA 50 logo centers the opposite side, with the player’s last name at the top and jersey number at the bottom. The inside of the band is marked “LGB SAMPLE”. Each ring is an approximate size 13 and weighs approximately 52.3 grams. The hinged display boxes are lined with felt and measure approximately 8” x 6” x 2 ½” and include the player’s name and NBA 50 logos. An incredible lot celebrating the 50 greatest players in NBA history!
