In 1903, the Baltimore Orioles of the incipient American League moved to New York City and became the Highlanders, a team that toiled in mediocrity for another two decades, even after changing its name to Yankees for the 1913 season. The arrival of Babe Ruth in 1920 began turning the team's fortunes. A season later, the Yankees had qualified for the club's first of three consecutive World Series (losing to the dreaded Giants twice) before winning its first championship in 1923. The rest is history. This pristine, ash, 34-inch, Cooperstown Bat Co. commemorative bat bears an applique banner '26 World Series Championships' with the years listed. To the right, the Yankees "bat in Hat" logo is crowned with "100th Anniversary" and sided with "1903" and "2003." A blue shield decal wraps the handle, with "1903 - 2003" written in gray. This is bat #42 of 100 made. 24 Yankees have boldly singed in vivid blue Sharpie the barrel of the bat. Signatures include: Yogi Berra, Whitey Ford, Don Larsen, Joe Pepitone, Sparky Lyle, Roy White, Chris Chambliss, Tommy John, Reggie Jackson, Graig Nettles, Clyde King, Goose Gossage, Ron blomberg, Jim Leyritz, Derek Jeter, David Cone, Paul O'Neill, Jorge Posada, Joe Girardi, Tino Martinez, Doc Gooden, Darryl Strawberry, Don Zimmer and Luis Sojo. Reese boldly signed on the barrel's sweet spot in vivid blue Sharpie, "Pee Wee Reese," grade 10. A COA from PSA/DNA (#T06693) accompanies this item. Also, an LOA from All American Collectibles, Inc. accompanies this item, along with official holograms.
