The 1931 New York Yankees finished second in the American League with a solid 94-59 mark to the 107-win Philadelphia Athletics. The St. Louis Browns, meanwhile, struggled in the American League, finishing with a 63-91 record. At some point during the 1931 season, members of the St. Louis Browns and New York Yankees were able to sign this “Lively League” baseball. Hall of Famer Babe Ruth signed his name in his classic signature on the sweet spot in bold blue pen. Please note that the signature of Hall of Famer Rick Ferrell hits the lowercase “b” in Babe and the signature of Fred Schulte hits the “t” in Ruth.  Other Hall of Famers on this ball include Lou Gehrig, Earle Combs, Tony Lazzeri, Rick Ferrell and Herb Pennock. Other signatures include George Pipgras, Lyn Lary, Benny Bengough, Fred Schulte, Ed Grimes, Chad Kimsey, Wallace Hebert, Rollie Stiles, Russ Young and one other. The ball displays toning and has a coating of shellac. The signatures have been signed in blue pen with some displaying minor smudges. This comes with a LOA from JSA (B80833) for the signatures. Please note that JSA incorrectly lists this as a Yankees/Cardinals ball instead of Yankees/Browns.
