This original CDV (Cartes de Visite) of President Abraham Lincoln depicts his stoic image as photographed by famed Civil War era photographer, Mathew B. Brady. This iconic image of Lincoln is depicted on the contemporary U.S. Five Dollar bill. Published in the mid-1860’s shortly after President Lincoln sat for this famous photograph, the CDV measures 2.375 X 4 and is back marked from the Philadelphia publisher. Lincoln, best known for overthrowing slavery through the Emancipation Proclamation and the Thirteenth Amendment, was the 16th president and first of the Republican Party and was one of the most photographed presidents in history.
