Yankees fans were mostly on their feet when Mariano Rivera came on to close games at Yankee Stadium but could usually sit down and relax by the time he was done. This pair of classic blue seat backs removed from Tier sections 10 and 11 from the former Yankee Stadium are signed by Rivera with a pair of inscriptions: MLB Authentic (#LH461490) Seat Number 1 from Row A of Tier 11 is signed elegantly by Rivera on its interior in bright silver Sharpie and includes a printed inscription reading, “#42 Enter Sandman All Times Saves leader.” MLB Authentic (#LH474166) Seat number 17 from Row J of Tier 10 is signed by Rivera again in his perfect penmanship, this time in bold black sharpie with the printed inscription “Enter Sandman Last to wear #42.” Both seat backs have a silver number plate riveted to the upper right hand corner on the inside and an American Seating manufacturers logo imprinted at the lower left corner on the back side, with white section label stickers on the back and show evidence of many years of fan use and abuse with a variety of sticky stains, dirt and grime. The pair together makes for a significant historical artifact derived from a golden era of Yankees baseball.
