Led by future Hall of Famers Robin Yount and Paul Molitor, the 1982 Milwaukee Brewers were an offensive minded team nicknamed “Harvey’s Wallbangers,” by hard hitting outfielder Cecil Cooper after general manager Harry Dalton suggested the name “Harvey’s Ballbangers,” when the Brewers scored 26 runs in Manager Harvey Kuenn’s first three games of the season, Cooper quipped “Naw. Just like the drink: Harvey’s Wallbangers. We keep banging ‘em off the walls,” and over…in addition to Cooper’s 32 home runs, “Stormin Gorman” Thomas knocked 39 and Ben Oglive hit 34. The Brewers won the AL East with a 10-2 victory over Baltimore on the last day of the season and edged the California Angels 3-2 in the ALCS before losing a dramatic seven-game World Series to the St. Louis Cardinals. This Rawlings official American League Lee Mac Phail ball is signed by 24 members of the 1982 Brewers American League pennant winning team including manager Kuenn on the sweet spot and Hall of Famers Robin Yount and Paul Molitor, as well as; Pat Dobson, Mike Caldwell, Jamie Easterly, Jim Gantner, Bob McClure, Roy Howell, Charlie Moore, George [Doc] Medich, Gorman Thomas, Don Money, Jerry Augustine, Boo Piccolo, Ned Yost, Marshall Edwards, Ted Simmons, Ed Romero, Pete Ladd and coaches Cal McLish, Harry Warner and Larry Haney. All signatures are in black and blue ballpoint ink on an off-white almost new looking ball with one small red stain emerging from a seam under the Official Ball labeling. The second ball is a Rawlings Milwaukee Brewers souvenir ball is signed by 20 members of the 1982 Brewers including manager Kuenn and Hall of Famers Yount and Molitor as well as Gorman Thomas, Don Money, Mike Caldwell, Marshall Edwards, Roy Howell, Jerry Augustine, Moose Haas, Charlie Moore, Jamie Easterly, Ned Yost, and coaches Larry Haney, Ron Hansen, Harry Warner and Cal McLish, and three others. All signatures are in black and blue ballpoint pen ink on cream colored ball with some fading but remain highly legible. Both balls are stored in plastic cubes and lot has been pre-certified by PSA/DNA.
