Constructed from 1959 to 1962, Dodger Stadium (also known as Chavez Ravine) was built into...yep, two ravines between the hills of Southern California. Interestingly, the ravine area housed a local elementary school, but instead of removing the school, the construction company simply covered over the school with earth, and this school sits below the third base area. Before the 2006 season, Dodger Stadium saw major renovations including the complete replacement of every seat. Only 2000 sets of two seats were offered to the public with proceeds going to charity. Presented here is one of those sets of two. Measuring 45-1/4" wide x 30" high x 13" deep, these original blue wooden seats have metal arm rests and legs. These legs have been bolted to wooden supports which give the fully functional seats a wonderful sturdiness. The seats are numbered, "1" and "2" comprising the first two seats of row "CC", which is stenciled in white on the side of seat 1. Both seats have a custom cushion which appears to be decades old period fanny helpers. Not that the Dodger fans needed them since they usually arrived in the third inning and left by the seventh inning. Seat one also has the serial number 05228-10 on the inside of the arm rest. The seats are in excellent condition for their usage, and have the usual nicks, chips, dings (and multiple coatings of paint) associated with over 40 years of use. This is a terrific remembrance of Dodger Stadium, seats which witnessed so many great Dodger teams including four World Series Champions. Due to the size and or weight of this lot, shipping costs could be substantial.
