After marrying Lyndon B. Johnson in 1934 when he was a political hopeful in Austin Texas, Lady Bird Johnson used a modest inheritance to bankroll his congressional campaign and then ran his office while he served in the Navy. She bought a radio station, and, later, a television station which generated revenues that made the Johnsons into millionaires. She received the Presidential Medal of Freedom and the Congressional Gold Medal, the highest honors bestowed upon a US civilian.
This lot includes a large Original White House family photograph of President Lyndon Baines Johnson and wife, Lady Bird Johnson and children Linda and Lucy with their partners. The photograph measures 8.5 x 11.5 inches and has been matted with light blue. The matting has been signed by both Lady Bird Johnson and LBJ, with a personal inscription that reads, “To Ann and Steve Martini with our appreciation and warm wishes for a Merry Christmas, December 1967” during their final year in the white house. The photo is framed and remains in its original condition since it was displayed by the Martini family. A unique and desirable family photograph signed by both President and First Lady Johnson in their final year in DC. The signatures come with a LOA from Beckett Authentication.
