The New York Yankees as we know them today were born in the 1920s. The Bronx Bombers claimed their first World Series title in 1923, in their first season playing in the venerable Yankee Stadium. Lou Gehrig, Babe Ruth, Earle Combs, Urban Shocker, and a cadre of additional Hall of Famers drove the Yankees to unforeseen heights, winning eight of the franchise’s 27 World Series titles in the 1920s and 1930s. Under manager Miller Huggins the Yankees transformed from New York’s doormat, forced to share a stadium with the more-popular New York Giants, into the biggest draw in baseball powered by its brightest star.

Offered here is a rare Official American League B. Bancroft “Ban” Johnson baseball that has been signed by 22 members of the 1925 New York Yankees. All of the signatures have been signed in steel-tip black fountain pen and features the distinctive signature Babe Ruth with “Babe” in quotes on the sweet spot. The signature of Lou Gehrig on the east panel, along with Howard Shanks, Fred Merkle, Joe Dugan and light and unidentifiable signature. Other signatures include Hall of Famers Earle Combs, Herb Pennock and Waite Hoyt, along with the signatures of Roy Luebbe, Bob Veach, Alex Ferguson, Aaron Ward, Benny Bengough, Wally Pipp, Bob Meusel, Bob Shawkey, Wally Schang, Ben Paschal, Sam Jones, Urban Shocker and two others. The signatures are light to medium, but still readable and the ball displays toning. This ball comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (AG01367).
