While a handful of 1952 Lions rings have reached the auction block over the past 15 years, we are only aware of one other '53 ring, which displayed heavy wear and sold back in 2002. This vastly superior example offered here boasts NM condition. The Josten 14K-gold, size 9 ring features a 10-point diamond crowning the "WORLD CHAMPIONS 1953" football (which has a special "frosted" preparation process), flanked by intricate roaring-lion shank designs with "DETROIT LIONS" and "NATIONAL FOOTBALL LEAGUE." Handsomely engraved inside the band is the name, "E.R. Bryant." NM condition.

An accompanying 1993 purchase LOA reads, "This is to certify that the 1953 Detroit Lions NFL Championship Ring is legally mine to sell, it was found by me in Modesto, Calif. I went to the trouble of trying to find the legal owner by contacting the Detroit Lions National Football Club but could not get any information on the whereabouts of the name inscribed in the ring, a 'E.R. Bryant.'"

Bobby Layne's 80-yard scoring drive in the last four minutes of play gave the Lions their 17-16 NFL Championship Game victory—and their second consecutive title.
