The road to Cooperstown wasn’t easy for Derek Jeter. Though highly touted by the press upon his debut in 1996, Jeter faced the obstacle of breaking into a Yankees line up that boasted an All-Star at almost every position. With the work ethic and raw talent, he later became known for, Jeter batter .316 that first year and helped the Yanks embark on what would be their late-1990s-early 2000s dynasty.

This glove dates to those early years when Jeter was carving out his place on one of the greatest Yankees teams of all-time. The Rawlings Pro-5XBCB fielder’s glove shows good game use with scuffs and abrasions throughout, particularly on the fingertips, and the pocket displays good wear. Perspiration staining is present inside the glove and wrist strap. The rawhide laces are original to the glove and the two Rawlings labels are intact with some light fraying present. The outside of the thumb has been custom embroidered with “Derek Jeter” in gold script. The glove was obtained by Willie Randolph and is part of the Willie Randolph Collection. This glove comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1G00602) for the game use and a LOA from former Major Leaguer Willie Randolph.
