This rare artifact is a pari-mutuel betting ticket for Seabiscuit, one of history's most famous race horses to Place in an unspecified race accompanied by an 8x10 black & white photograph of Seabiscuit's second appearance at the Santa Anita that shows Seabiscuit in a Place finish racing to a photo finish against the winner Stagehand. Many fans consider this race among his greatest performances, attributing the loss to poor track conditions, an unfair weight system and foul by another horse. Later that year however, Seabiscuit went on to win one of the greatest horse races ever run, the match race against War Admiral. In 1940, before retiring Seabiscuit won in his third try in the $100,000 Santa Anita Handicap before the largest crowd ever assembled at the time. Comes with a Gotta Have It certificate that unconditionally guarantees the authenticity of this item.
