Legendary New York Yankees catcher Thurman Munson has signed this offered cut. Munson, the 1970 American League Rookie of the Year, led the Yankees to two World Series titles in his 11-season career. The Ohio native was named the Yankees first captain since Lou Gehrig in 1976, and he won the American League MVP Award that same season. Tragically, Munson was killed in an aviation accident during the 1979 MLB season. Immediately afterward, owner George Steinbrenner retired Munson’s number “15”, and the next season Munson’s plaque was installed in Monument Park. Munson has signed this cut in blue pen and inscribed “New York Yankees”. This cut has been authenticated and encapsulated by PSA/DNA (84197425) and Munson’s signatures has been graded a NM-MT 8.
