Osama Bin Laden was the terrorist mastermind behind the deadly September 11, 2001 attacks against the United States that resulted in the death of 2,977 innocent American lives. A worldwide manhunt for Bin Laden was soon launched, and this presented 8 ½ x 13-inch F.B.I. Wanted poster comes from the manhunt that lasted upwards of a decade. Bin Laden was finally brought to justice during Operation Neptune Spear, the May 2, 2011 raid led by Navy Seal Team 6 on Bin Laden’s compound in Abbottabad, Pakistan. The poster is labeled “WANTED BY THE F.B.I.” on the top of the poster in white lettering in white on a red background. An image of Bin Laden appears in the center of the poster in black and white. “DESCRIPTION” is labeled in red and lists the date of birth, age, height, weight and other information about Bin Laden. “CRIMINAL RECORD” is labeled in black just above “CAUTION” in red that warns the populace that Bin Laden should have been considered armed and dangerous. Information on how to contact authorities is located at the bottom of the wanted poster. Navy Seal Robert J. O’Neil, the man credited with killing the wanted terrorist during the raid, appears on the left side of the poster and with the inscription “NEVER QUIT!” in blue marker.
