Opening Day Auction 2014
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 4/26/2014
On August 7, 1999, Wade Boggs became the first player to record his 3000th hit via the long ball (Derek Jeter became the second), connecting off Chris Haney in the sixth inning of an eventual 15-10 Tampa Bay Devil Ray loss. On that historic, milestone day, Boggs was 3-4, the HR, and four RBI. This well rubbed OAL Budig baseball was used during that game in Tampa, and has been boldly signed in blue ink “Wade Boggs” on the sweet spot with added inscription “8/7/99 3000” just to the right. Great game used ball from the biggest milestone achievement in HOFer Wade Boggs’ career. COA from PSA/DNA for the signature.
