Willie Shoemaker is known as one of the greatest American jockeys of all-time, riding nearly 9,000 winners in his 41-year career. Shoemaker rode four Kentucky Derby, five Belmont Stakes and two Preakness winners during his storied tenure .
This contract for an agent, signed by Willie Shoemaker, entered one of horse racing’s greatest jockeys into a one-year pact with International Creative Management of Los Angeles effective Jan. 14, 1977. The “Standard AFTRA Exclusive Agency Contract Under Rule 12-B” requires Shoemaker, among other things, to “pay to the Agent a sum equal to ten (10) per cent (not more than 10%) of all moneys or other consideration received by the Artist…” The four-page contract, which has Shoemaker’s signature in blue ink on the final page, has two staples in the upper left corner and is in excellent condition. The signed contract comes with a full PSA/DNA LOA #T05890.
