Arthur Miller’s stunning series “A Baseball Card That Never Was” continues with this outstanding entrant featuring the first baseball player to surpass 60 home runs in a season, Roger Maris. This artwork is a mixed media on canvas. Specifically, the mixed media is acrylic enamel house paint, oil pastels and colored pencils and sealed with varnish. This piece imagines what a Maris entry in the pristine 1951 Bowman set would look like. Maris is portrayed in a pinstriped Yankees home uniform with a bat resting on his left shoulder. A black bar is located near the bottom of the artwork with “ROGER MARIS” painted inside in white text. The back of this artwork has “A Baseball Card That Never Was: Roger Maris (1951 Bowman)”, “2018”, and Miller’s signature written in black. Miller’s signature is also located on the bottom right corner of this artwork. This item measures 26 x 40 inches and is a one-of-a-kind display piece for any baseball fan.
