Presented here is a signed, first edition copy of the “Return of the Enola Gay” by Paul Tibbets. Tibbets was the officer responsible for the coalescence of the Enola Gay mission; training, organizing, and commanding the operation resulting in the first usage of nuclear weapons in combat. The Enola Gay, a B-29 Superfortress bomber, dropped the “Little Boy” atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Hiroshima on August 6th, 1945.
This book has been signed by Col. Tibbets, as well as Dutch Van Kirk, Thomas Ferebee, and Richard H. Nelson. They signed the first page of the book, which is a limited edition one of 500, in blue pen. This item is accompanied by a LOA from PSA/DNA (AC03799).
