Lot #3313: Ty Cobb Signed & Inscribed Cut Signature In 13"x20" Framed Display (JSA)

Description

Offered is a Ty Cobb signed cut displayed with a photograph of the Hall of Fame Detroit Tigers second baseman displayed in a framed collage. The “Georgia Peach” signed his name “Ty Cobb” in black fountain pen on a 2 x 3½-inch white cut that is mounted in center of the display in a tan matte with black accents. Above the Cobb-signed cut is an illustration of Cobb holding a bat while wearing a Detroit uniform. Cobb spent 22 seasons with the Tigers, the last six as the team's player-manager, and finished his career with the Philadelphia Athletics in 1928. In 1936 Cobb received the most votes of any player on the inaugural Baseball Hall of Fame ballot, receiving 222 out of a possible 226 votes (98.2 percent); no other player received a higher percentage of votes until Tom Seaver in 1992. In 1999, the Sporting News ranked Ty Cobb third on their list of "Baseball's 100 Greatest Players". Cobb is widely credited with setting 90 MLB records during his career. His combined total of 4,065 runs scored and runs batted in (after adjusting for home runs) is still the highest ever produced by any Major League player. The Cobb-signed cut and photo are displayed in a 13 x 20-inch brown wood with glass frame. The frame contains a scratch at the top on the wood and on the bottom corners. The cut collage featuring a photo of and a signed cut by Hall of Famer Ty Cobb comes with an LOA from JSA for the signature.
