Description

Offered is a 1970 Lou Holtz Southern Conference Champions Award. The 7 x 4-inch gold metal and blonde wood trophy incorporates a gold metal football set atop a gold metal pedestal, which is mounted on the blonde wood base. The front panel of the base features a gold metal plaque with a bronze, raised seal of the Southern Conference with logo at the top center, and the engraved legend "Champions 1970" below the seal. Holtz's first head coaching gig was with The College of William & Mary (1969-1971). In his second season at the helm, William & Mary finished the 1970 season 5–7 overall and 3–1 in conference play, winning the Southern Conference title. The Indians were invited to the Tangerine Bowl, where they lost to Toledo. This comes with a LOA from Lou Holtz and 100% of the net proceeds from the sale of this item will benefit the Holtz Charitable Foundation, Inc.
