Lot #2883: 1977-79 Reggie Jackson Game Used & Signed Hillerich & Bradsby J93 Model Bat (PSA/DNA GU 8.5 & Beckett)

Description

In the post-season of the 1977 and 1978 campaigns, Reggie Jackson cemented his reputation as “Mr. October.” With three swings of the bat in Game 6 of the 1977 World Series, the DH swatted away any thoughts the Dodgers may have had about winning a world championship. In that World Series, Jackson clouted 5 HR, plated 8, scored 10, hit .462 and ran away with the MVP. A year later, he hit 2 home runs, plated 8, scored 2 and hit .391. His clutch performances brought the Yankees World Series glory for the first time in nearly 15 years. Jackson’s Hillerich & Bradsby J93 model dates to the 1977-79 labeling period and displays excellent game use. This bat has a crack on the handle that has been repaired and the barrel has ball marks and blue bat rack streaks. There is a light coating of pine tar on the handle, along with additional blue bat rack streaks. Jackson’s number “44” is handwritten in black marker on the knob. Jackson boldly signed and inscribed his name and number in blue marker on the barrel. The signature is clean and clear. This comes with an LOA from PSA/DNA (1B19295) for the game use and has been given a high grade of GU 8.5. Additionally, there is a LOA from Beckett Authentication for the signature. Please note that this item was recently authenticated by Beckett Authentication. An LOA will be pictured in this lot when it is received in our office and will be shipped to the winner.
