Although best known for his 2,632 consecutive games played streak, Cal Ripken Jr holds another streak record that will most likely never be surpassed – 8,243 consecutive innings played. That streak was ended on September 14, 1987, but his quest for Lou Gehrig’s record resumed when he was in the lineup the next day. This Louisville Slugger F149 bat dates from Ripken’s 1987-1988 seasons and shows excellent use with a crack in the upper handle. There are ball marks, stitch impressions, blue ink transfers and cleat imprints present on the barrel, along with a light coating of pine tar on the center brand. This bat comes with a LOA from PSA/DNA (1B19649) for the game use and has been given a very high grade of GU 9. Please note that in PSA/DNA’s LOA, there is a reference to a letter from a former Minnesota Twins bat boy, who acquired this bat during his duties in the late 1980’s.
