Description

“Bucketfoot Al” Simmons was coming off back-to-back AL batting titles in the 9th season of his spectacular stint with Connie Mack’s powerhouse Philadelphia Athletics franchise when he clubbed this Reach “Official American League” ball off Washington Senators pitcher General Crowder for his second home run of the season at Shibe Park in Philadelphia on April 16, 1932. Red and blue stitched ball contains all of the original manufacturers labeling including “William Harridge President American League” facsimile signature and “Pat’d RE 17200” registered trademark. All writing on the ball is in the hand of Al Simmons. Ball displays excellent game use and wear, carrying a series of inscriptions on side panels reading: “Home Run Ball Hit off Crowder,” “April 16th/32 Score Athletics 4 Washington 2” and “Winning Pitcher [Lefty} Grove.” The ball is derived from the estate of a relative of Simmons’ and comes with Mears Authentic full LOA and hologram #314421.
