Lot #12: One Of A Kind Baseball Signed By Every Pitcher Who Threw a Perfect Game In Past 90 Years with 19 Signatures Including Harvey Haddix! (PSA/DNA)

Description

We have had the priviledge of offering two 'complete' perfect game signed baseballs with 18 signatures. In the past two years those baseballs have sold for approximately $27,000 and $17,000 each. What we have here however, is the rarity of all rarities, as it not only includes those same 18 signatures, but also the signature of Harvey Haddix, who threw 12 perfect innings in 1959. The perfect game is one of those rare moments when a pitcher finds his groove and becomes literally unhittable. Many have come close, some even losing out to the 27th batter, but it remains one of the most elusive and monumental achievements in sports. It is so rare, in fact, it has only happened 23 times in Major League Baseball history. This impressive item collects the signatures of every pitcher who has thrown a perfect game since 1956, a total of 18 of the 23 who have thrown perfect games in the modern era. Notable signatures include Don Larsen, who threw the only perfect game in World Series History; Sandy Koufax, whose perfect game was just 1 of 4 no-hitters he would throw in his career; Randy Johnson, the oldest pitcher to throw a perfect game at 40; and Felix Hernandez, the last pitcher to accomplish the feat, in 2012. Other signatures included are Jim Bunning, Jim “Catfish” Hunter, Len Barker, Mike Witt, Tom Browning, Dennis Martinez, Kenny Rogers, David Wells, David Cone, Mark Buehrle, Dallas Braden, Roy Halladay, Philip Humber and Matt Cain. Each has signed their name and inscribed the date of their perfecto, with the exception of Hunter and Rogers. As an added bonus, included here is the signature of Harvey Haddix, who pitched what many consider to be the greatest game in baseball history. In 1959 Haddix retired the first 36 batters he faced over 12 innings, before losing his bid for a perfect game in the 13th inning. This is an impossible item to duplicate as Hunter and Haddix have been deceased for 16 and 21 years respectively. This valuable piece of baseball history comes with a Letter of Authenticity from PSA/DNA.
