Lot #6: 1949 Norm Van Brocklin Game Worn College All-Stars Uniform (Van Brocklin LOA)

Description

Vibrant and rare College All-Stars uniform worn by “The Dutchman” in the August 12, 1949 game against the Philadelphia Eagles at Soldiers’ Field, Chicago. After the game (in which the Eagles trounced the college stars 38-0), Van Brocklin went on to quarterback in the NFL for 12 seasons and coach both the Vikings and Falcons before retiring in 1974. Van Brocklin’s beautiful red, white and blue durene jersey features his number “19” on the front and back and the shoulders carry the patriotic white field with red stars. Red, white and blue stripes run down the sides of the body of the jersey and the crotch flap contains the Wilson tagging with size (44) and cleaning instructions. The jersey shows great game use and aging with a few snags in the sleeve fabric and 2 small holes in one of the stars on the left shoulder. The original white pants with patriotic red, white and blue side striping show appropriate game use. The original “Wilson” manufacturing tag along with the “May & Halas Inc. Chicago” distributor tagging is visible inside the waistband. 3 additional white strip tags show cleaning instructions, “36” and “REGULAR”. The Red, white and blue stirrup socks are also included. Great opportunity to own a stunning and complete vintage uniform from a much-revered member of both the College and Pro-Football Hall of Fame. Letter of authenticity from Hunt Auctions and a letter of provenance signed by Allen Van Brocklin. Multiple images and LOAs available at goldinauctions.com.
