Description

Presented here is Wayman Tisdale’s Vitalis Award for Sports Excellence, given to him on December 29th, 1982. Tisdale is joined by athletes such as Carl Lewis, Joan Benoit Samuelson, Wilma Rudolph, and Glenn Cunningham who have won this prestigious award. Tisdale, halfway through his freshman year at the University of Oklahoma when he won this award, blossomed into one of the greatest college basketball players of all-time. A three-time Big Eight Conference Player of the Year Award winner, Tisdale averaged over 25 points and 10 rebounds per game during his three years as a Sooner. This medal, which is silver, has “Vitalis Award For Sports Excellence” and “ESPN” etched on the face in high relief, and “Wayman Tisdale December 29, 1982” etched on the face as well. The opposite side features an ornate decoration of athletes performing various competitions and exercises. This item comes with a LOA from Regina Tisdale, the wife of the late Wayman Tisdale.
