Spring 2020 Premium Auction

Lot #210: 1986/87 Fleer Basketball Unopened Wax Boxes Trio (3) – "The Midwest Storage Find" – All BBCE Certified

Description

Three complete, unopened wax boxes of 1986/87 Fleer Basketball cards are presented here. The factory-fresh, 36-Count wax boxes contain untouched cards from that universally prized release, and potential contents among the MT-condition treasures within include Rookie Cards of Michael Jordan, Charles Barkley, Hakeem Olajuwon and a multitude of additional Hall of Famers. The boxes' exterior surfaces present barely handled character; packs inside boast original seals. (Each pack contains 12 cards and 1 sticker.) All three boxes are separately protected by securely sealed "Baseball Card Exchange" plastic wrapping (with individual BBCE descriptive labels and Cert. #'s).

The boxes hail from the widely envied "Midwest Storage Find" of 2020. The treasured full containers emerged after their fortuitous discovery by our consignors, who are storage liquidators by profession. Upon obtaining the "Find," these business people diligently researched available choices among the industry's auction services by comparing track records of past sales, observing examples of various companies' marketing expertise and testing different organizations' commitment to maximizing the boxes' eventual return. They soon determined, distance to the East Coast notwithstanding, that the very best venue for the sale of material of this magnitude is Goldin Auctions. Our company secured the deal, and these long-hidden caches of 1986/87 Fleer Basketball cards are now entering the hobby.

It's quite possible that there are multiple Jordan Rookie Cards inside each box that could achieve a PSA GEM MT 10 grade, and be worth close to $100,000 … or more!
