Lot #10: 1998-99 Kobe Bryant Game Used Los Angeles Lakers Road Jersey With Apparent Photo Match To 2/23/1999 (Sports Investors Authentication)

Description

Hall of Famer Kobe Bryant’s career continued on the ascent during the 1998-99 season. The only thing that slowed him down was the owners’ lockout that reduced the season to 50 games. Bryant still poured in 19.9 points per game at the age of 20 as he began to form that lethal partnership with Shaquille O’Neal to start the next Lakers’ dynasty.

Offered here is Kobe Bryant’s Lakers road jersey from the 1998-99 season and to photographs of the February 23, 1999 game where Kobe scored 11 points in the Lakers’ 93-86 loss. The purple mesh road jersey has “LAKERS” sewn on in yellow and white tackle twill and Bryant’s number “8” sewn across the chest in white and yellow tackle twill. The back has “BRYANT” sewn on in yellow and white tackle twill and “8” that is sewn on white and yellow tackle twill. An NBA logo patch is sewn on the left shoulder of this jersey. An NBA Authentics, Nike size “50”, and Los Angeles Lakers tags are sewn on the front left tail of the jersey. A “LENGTH +4” flag is attached to the Nike tag. The jersey displays moderate use and comes with a LOA from Sports Investors Authentication (200228F1) for the game use. There is also a letter of provenance stating that this “98-99” jersey was received in 2001 from a ball boy with the Los Angeles Lakers. Please note that the letter references a pair of shorts that are NOT included with this lot.

Please note that the printed catalog errantly mentions shorts coming with this jersey. This lot has the jersey only.

Please note that this lot has a 25% Buyer’s Premium (28% if payment is made using a credit card and/or is not paid within 10 days of invoice). Goldin Auctions will be donating 5% of the winning bid price to the MambaOnThree Fund.
