Lot #13: Actual First Pitch Game Used Baseball from Cal Ripken Jr.'s 2130 Consecutive Game Tying Lou Gehrig's All Time Record - Signed & Inscribed By Ripken (Ripken LOA)

Before Hall of Famer Cal Ripken, Jr. could break Lou Gehrig’s historic consecutive games played streak, he would have to tie him. That’s exactly what Ripken did when he suited up for the 2,130th consecutive time on September 5th, 1995 against the California Angels. Offered here is the game used for the first pitch thrown by Scott Erickson of the Orioles to Tony Phillips of the Angels. The ball was then taken out of play. This Official American League Gene A. Budig stamped ball has a “RIPKEN 8 2130 2121 Orioles” logo on the side panel to honor the occasion. This ball shows good game use with rubbed dirt marks throughout and Cal has recently signed this ball on the sweet spot in blue pen and added the inscriptions "Actual First Pitch" on the north panel and "9-5-95" and "2130" on the south panel. This comes directly from the personal collection of Cal Ripken, Jr. and a signed LOA from Cal will accompany this historic item.
