Lot #17: 1933 Uncle Jacks Candy Babe Ruth "King of Swat" – PSA VG+ 3.5 "1 of 1!" – The Highest PSA-Graded Example!

Description

This lot closes on June 26, 2021 at 10:00 PM EDT for initial bids.

Graded VG+ 3.5 by PSA. Hall of Famer. Among a sparse total of just ten copies recorded in PSA's census reporting, this is the lone example at its enviable tier. None has been graded higher. In 1933, a confectionery firm, Uncle Jacks, Inc., produced a blank-backed series of 1-15/16" x 3" baseball cards for distribution in the New England company's home region. The cards are virtually never offered, owing specifically to their extreme rarity. Presented here is the unquestioned crown jewel of its diligently hunted and delightfully obscure production: the red-tinted entry showcasing Babe Ruth, the "King of Swat," in his prime! The piece presents beautifully, with a clear, softly hued photographic likeness of the legend reposing on gently toned cardstock. The faintest hint of a surface wrinkle can be discerned, with difficulty, at the lower left. This uniquely supreme memento represents a tremendously significant potential addition to the most sophisticated array of specialized Ruth collectibles. This rare piece projects singular Very Good-plus condition, while boasting eye appeal and inherent charisma that demonstrably surpass the card's formal grading assessment.
