Offered is a rare game used uniform from one of the Arena Football League’s charter teams, the Washington Commandos. The team was in existence from 1987-1990 (skipping the 1988 season and known as the Maryland Commandos in 1989).

This particular uniform, complete with a white jersey and gold pants, matches the style worn by the inaugural 1987 team. The size 46 Wilson white mesh jersey was worn by Steve Griffin in that first season, his only season with the Commandos. The number “23” is screen printed on the front, back and on both shoulders in red and gray. The Arena Football League logo is screen printed on the upper right shoulder and “GRIFFIN” is screen printed in red on a matching white mesh nameplate on the back. Each sleeve also has joining red, gray and blue stripes.

The silver pants were also made by Wilson and have a size 34 waist. The inside waist band is white and does not have any player identification. Down each side of the pants are a mesh white stripe with blue and red borders, and the waist has a silver built-in belt strap and a lace-tied crotch. Each leg also has built-in thigh and knee pad holders. Both the jersey and pants show heavy game use with various paint marks and scuffs. This is truly a unique item from the Arena Football League’s inaugural season.
